About SUTD Game Lab
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) Game Lab began in October 2012 when SUTD to continue the work of the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab (GAMBIT). The first five years, we were supported by the National Research Foundation, Prime Minister's Office, Singapore under its Game Research, Education and Training (GREaT) Funding initiative. The SUTD Game Lab was created to pioneer a unique model of game experimentation, education, and training that will propel the Singapore game landscape to new heights. Our aim is to build on the success of GAMBIT to create opportunities to seed new innovators, entrepreneurs and innovations for Singapore, the region, and possibly even the world.
From 2018, SUTD is an Research Institute supported by SUTD and various research projects. We have a strong research focus on AI, AR and VR in gamification for education, AI/Robotics, healthcare.
Our objectives are to:
- Provide state-of-the-art skills and expertise in user-centric game design for serious AR/VR games in the field of education, robotics/AI, and healthcare, and further research this field.
- Deliver commercially ready gamified systems through collaboration with industry and faculty, and thus reinforce the capability of SUTD in these cutting-edge domains.
- Outreach and education through workshops, conferences, and teaching.
